Creve Coeur
French for broken heart. Also what you feel stepping off the patio in the dark. We can do something about one of those.
Creve Coeur takes its name from the lake, and the lake takes its name from a legend about a broken heart. It is also, for what it is worth, a reasonable description of stepping off your own patio in the dark.
The town itself is established and comfortable, with lots that are generous without being estates and a housing stock largely laid down between the fifties and the eighties. Mature landscaping is the norm, which means beds, borders and ornamental planting that a dog will happily use and a quick walk around the perimeter will entirely miss.
Yards here need the grid rather than the loop, and the beds need looking into rather than past.
